paris' oldest chocolate shop

Is it a coincidence that I'm writing this post as November approaches? I think not, although I could probably find an excuse to go there every day.

Not only is it the oldest candy shop we have in Paris - dating back from 1761, making it more than 250 years old - it's also by far one of the most beautiful ones I've seen. And actually it's a bit unfair to call it a chocolate shop, because they sell so much more: calissons, macarons, ice cream, candied fruit... You will have a hard time choosing. There are apparently more than 1000 different products & I'm sad to tell you that I haven't been able to taste them all yet. But I'm working on it.

A part from the motorbikes, I'm guessing not much has changed since 1761:

Christmas calendar houses with 24 treats:

A la mere de famille - 35 rue du Faubourg Montmartre - 75009 Paris. Open Monday to Saturday from 9.30am to 8pm & Sundays 10am-1pm. This is the original shop, but they have 10 more in Paris. More info on their website.
