folks & sparrows

When you meet up with friends you've connected with over Instagram, you know they will pick a café that looks good from every possible angle. What you don't know before trying it, is whether it will be more than just another pretty place. This one is definitely more.

Folks and Sparrows is a little café/épicerie located in a quiet street in the otherwise busy 11th arrondissement and apart from being incredibly cute & beautifully designed right down to the smallest details (the storefront, the tiles, the flowers, well pretty much everything...), it also serves great coffee & a large choice of teas, something that's often hard to find in Paris, especially in the newly opened hip coffee places. Their brand is the high-quality American tea company Harney & Sons. I tried their chocolate/mint variant while one of my friends chose the green tea with lemon. Both were delicious and it certainly doesn't hurt that they come in beautiful packages. (I'm now looking for a place where I can buy these in France)

We also tried their cheesecake & banana/walnut/chocolate muffins and ate them to the last crumb. And what made the whole thing even nicer is that nobody rushes you. There's no hurry to pay or leave which gives the place a lovely quietness and a real laid-back feeling that' s really not that easy to find in Paris when you think about it.

I hear their sandwiches are good & I haven't tried the products from their épicerie yet, so there's plenty of reasons to come back.

Folks and Sparrows, 14 rue Saint-Sébastien, 75011 Paris. Tel: +33 (0)9 81 45 90 99. Open everyday except Mondays from 10am to 7pm.
